What are the Environmental effects of Pumped Hydro Energy Storage (PHES) and how can future development proceed?

 

EU Sustainable Energy Week Satellite Event

On Wednesday 26th of June 2013 the stoRE project team organised in the framework of the 'European Union Sustainable Energy Week' (EUSEW) the satellite event on "What are the Environmental effects of Pumped Hydro Energy Storage (PHES) and how can future development proceed?" at the European Wind Energy Association, Rue d'Arlon 80, B-1040 Brussels, Belgium .

 

The event was attended by stakeholders interested to participate in a presentation and interactive session examining the environmental effects of Pumped Hydro Energy Storage (PHES) and Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES). These are large scale civil projects with significant environmental implications. It will include a technology overview and examination of how future sustainable PHES development should proceed. Finally, it concluded with a panel discussion.
