The stoRE project work plan

WP 1: Management

WP 2: Technology and Needs Overview

Technology and needs overview

First a collection and evaluation of information about the status and potential of the energy storage technologies will be developed. Then the potential and needs of storage will be assessed setting the foundations for the work to be carried out in the next phases of the project.

×

WP 5: Target countries analysis and recommendations

Target countries analysis and recommendations

The aim is to identify regulatory and market barriers to the development and operation of energy storage facilities in the target countries. For achieving that, first an overview of the power system status will be developed including the systems’ potential and needs in energy storage infrastructure for various scenarios by 2020 and 2050. Then an action plan will be developed for each country, which will be promoted to the relevant authorities.

×

WP 4: European Regulatory and market framework analysis

European Regulatory and market framework analysis

The European regulatory and market frameworks will be assessed for their effect on energy storage infrastructure and use. The Directives that can have an effect will be analysed and the structuring of the energy and electricity markets imposed by the European Commission to the member countries will be examined, resulting in recommendations for improvements that will be discussed at the appropriate level within the EC.

×

WP 3: Environmental issues

Environmental issues

The environmental considerations relevant to the development and operation of energy storage facilities, particularly pumped hydro (including coastal and salt water pumped hydro) and compressed air storage will be assessed, resulting in recommendations for improvements in the relevant process.
